Medical Lab Technology was introduced in the year 2004 under the WEST BENGAL STATE COUNCIL OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION, Kolkata,
with an intake capacity of 30 students per year in the first year. In 2007 when the Institute got affiliation from the TRIPURA UNIVERSITY,
the intake capacity has been reduced and at present the intake capacity stands at 20 students per year in the first year.
Medical Lab Technology is a branch of science dealing with all laboratory aspects in the field of life sciences.
During the tenure of diploma course, students will get exposed to all kind of Medical Diagnostic aspects including
immuno diagnostic & modern diagnostic with paramount skills. And thus after passing out they will find themselves
equipotent to get absorbed in Laboraties of Hospital & any other related labs & also to pursue Bachelor program in MLT,
Bio Technology,Bio-Medical Engineering & Bio-Process Engineering.
It imparts technical skills mainly on diagnostics of medical ailments using some bio-chemical, bio-medical and immunological
tools. The laboratories are well equipped with sophisticated automated analyzer, spectophotometer, digital haemoglobinmeter,
multi para monitor and so many other modern facilities to provide adequate knowledge in the field. Besides these, for upgradation
of existing skills some modern diagnostic tools like ELISA, PCR, Chromaatographic column for protein purification, PAGE, etc.
are introduced in the laboratories recently. Thus along with providing a pleasing ambience, the Institute is very keen to make this
branch a unique of its kind.
